Investor visa is a permanent residence visa which allows you to travel to and enter Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted. To qualify for this visa, you must: (1) be a business owner who have held an investment visa (Subclass 162) for at least 2 years in the last 4 years; (2) have maintained the designated investment of AUD1,500,000 for 4 years and have been in Australia for two out of the last four years; (3) have never been involved in a business or investment activity not acceptable in Australia.

Once the visa expires, the applicant can apply for an RRV to continue living and conduct business in Australia. The spouse/de facto partner and dependent children can be included in the application.

A. Investor Visa (Subclass 891)

This is a permanent residence visa which allows you to travel to and enter Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted. To qualify for this visa, you must: (1) be a business owner who have held an investment visa (Subclass 162) for at least 2 years in the last 4 years; (2) have maintained the designated investment of AUD1,500,000 for 4 years and have been in Australia for two out of the last four years; (3) have never been involved in a business or investment activity not acceptable in Australia.

B. Business Talent Permanent Visa (Subclass 132)

This is a permanent resident visa allowing the holder to remain and travel in and out of Australia indefinitely. This visa category is for establishing a new or developing an existing business in Australia. It has two streams which are Significant Business History Stream or the Venture Capital Entrepreneur Stream. SBH stream is for high calibre overseas business owners and/or part-owners who want to establish or develop an existing business in Australia. VCE stream is for people who have received at least AUD 1 million in funding from an Australian venture capital firm and that funding is for the start-up, product commercialization or business development of a promising high-value business idea.

To be eligible for SBH stream, the applicant must have net personal and business asset of AUD1,500,000 and an annual business turnover of at least AUD3,000,000 in the two of four fiscal years before the application.; For the VCE stream, the applicant must have sourced venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited. Other eligibility criteria include being under 55 years of age for SBH stream, being sponsored by an appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government, having significant business and personal assets, having a commitment to maintain business in Australia, and having a successful business career.

Once the visa expires, the applicant can apply for an RRV to continue living and conduct business in Australia. The spouse/de facto partner and dependent children can be included in the application.

C. State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner Visa (Subclass 892)

This visa is similar to Business Owner Visa (Subclass 890) except that it requires sponsorship by an appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government of Australia. Other qualifying criteria are lower because of this sponsorship.

D. State/Territory Sponsored Investor Residence Visa (Subclass 893)

This visa is for the 165 visa holder who has held the designated investment AUD750,000 for four years. It’s similar to Investor Visa (Subclass 891) but requires sponsorship by an appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government of Australia. Other qualifying criteria are lower because of this sponsorship.

E. Investor Retirement Visa (Subclass 405) -

(This visa is now closed to new applicants)

The Investor Retirement (Subclass 405) visa is the only retirement visa. It is a temporary visa is for self-funded retirees who have no dependents and want to live in Australia during their retirement years. To qualify, you must be at least 55 years old, have no dependents (other than a partner), have an income of AUD$65,000 per year (or AUD$50,000 for regional areas) and have a designated investment of AUD$750,000 in Australia (or AUD$500,000 for regional areas).
