SKILLED - REGIONAL VISA - Subclass 887
About this Visa:
This visa is a permanent resident visa, and is generally the second stage of the Skilled - Regional Sponsored Subclasses 487 and 475. Since this visa subclass is almost akin to a second stage of the 487 and 475 visas, there is no requirement to meet the English language, skills assessment or recent work experience criteria as these would have been satisfied in the provisional visa.
There is no sponsorship by an Australian relative or nomination by a state/territory requirement for this visa subclass. Generally, there are a merits review rights.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must be a holder of the provisional General Skilled Migration Visa (GSM) visa Skilled - Regional Sponsored Subclass 487 or 475 (or previous visa Subclasses 495 or 496).
- The main applicant must have held the provisional GSM visa for a period of two years.
- At the time of the application, the main applicant must have lived in a specified regional area for at least two years under the provisional visa.
- At the time of the application, the main applicant must have worked in the specified regional area for at least one year.
- The applicants must have complied with the visa conditions imposed on the provisional visa and any previous visas.
- All applicants must meet health, character, public interest and special return criteria.
- All applicants must be inside Australia at the time of lodgement.
Conditions
This is a permanent residence (PR) visa valid for five years. With this subclass there is unrestricted entry and return for the validity period. After this, a resident return visa (RRV), or citizenship if eligible, is required before expiry. No other conditions are imposed on this visa.
