Sheetmetal Trades Worker is employed in many parts of Australia, with Queensland having the largest share of Sheetmetal Trades Workers. They primarily work in Construction; Manufacturing and Other Services industries. Common duties include:
study drawings, specifications and blueprints to determine job, material and equipment requirements
select metal stock like stainless steel, galvanised iron, mild steel, aluminium and copper, and check sizes, gauges and other dimensions of metal stock against specifications
trace metal stock with reference points and lines and cut them along guidelines
form and shape cut metal stock into products
assemble and fit components into final products
polish, file, sand and clean final products
