Electrical Engineers worked in most parts of Australia and moderate growth is projected in the future. They primarily work in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; Electricity, Gas, Waste and Water Services; and Manufacturing industries. Common duties include:
prepare and design power stations and power generation equipment
determine the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, circuit-breakers, transmission lines and other equipment
develop products like electric motors, components, equipment and appliances
interpret illustrations, specifications, standards and regulations relating to electric power equipment and use
manage resources utilised in the supply of electrical components, machines, appliances and equipment
manage the operation and maintenance of power stations, transmission and distribution systems and industrial plants
Employment fell in the last five years and will continue in the next five years: from 18,800 in 2018 to 18,300 by 2023. The occupation is expected to generate 6,000 job openings per year.
Electrical Engineers are required to have bachelor’s degree, years of relevant experience, and registration.
Job Description
Design, develop, test and supervise production and installation of electrical equipment, components or systems for commercial, industrial, military or scientific use such as electric motors, radar and navigation systems, communication system, the electrical system of automobiles and aircraft and power generation equipment.
