Electronics Engineers worked in most parts of Australia, with Victoria having the largest share. They primarily work in the Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; Manufacturing; and Wholesale Trade industries. Common duties include: 

• develop electronic components, circuits and systems for computer, communication and control systems, and other industrial applications

• create software, including embedded software, to be used within such systems and communication bearers based on wired, optical fibre and wireless communication media

• develop apparatus and procedures to test electronic components, circuits and systems

• oversee the installation and commissioning of computer, communication and control systems, and ensuring proper control and protection methods

• build and monitor performance and safety standards and procedures for operation, modification, repair and maintenance of such systems

Employment fell in the last five years and will continue in the next five years: from 4,100 in 2018 to 3,900 by 2023. The occupation is expected to generate 1,000 job openings per year.

Electronics Engineers are required to have bachelor’s degree, years of relevant experience, and registration.
