Production Manager (Milling Operations)
Location: Adelaide 
Annual salary of $90K - $95K + super

Directly Responsible For:

  • Managing the day-to-day activities related to the receipt of wheat, milling operations, semolina/flour supply, receipt, storage, and the flour system.

  • Identifying operational inefficiencies to develop improvement strategies/plans and drive performance.

  • Optimizing the use of resources to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

  • Providing reports to senior management on production performance against key performance indicators.

  • Overseeing and providing leadership to assigned personnel.

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant company policies, procedures, and legislation through strong leadership.

Accountable To: 
Chief Executive Officer & Production Manager (Wheat Milling)   

Delegates To: 
Millers, Assistant Millers, Mill Operatives, and general mill-related staff   

Hours of Work: Rotational shift work as required by the position, with additional hours when necessary, including early starts, late finishes, and weekend work

  • Day Shift:07:50 – 16:00

  • Afternoon Shift:15:50 – 00:00

  • Night Shift:23:50 – 08:00

  
General Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical advice and expertise to ensure the quality and overall production efficiency of the Dry Pasta Department meets Company standards.

  • Reviewing and implementing work practices to ensure dry pasta manufacturing is standardized and aligned with Company standards as agreed by the COO.

  • Reviewing, developing, and implementing standard operating procedures and training across the department to ensure personnel maintain a high level of skill, knowledge, and capability.

  • Identifying process improvement opportunities and recommending solutions

  • Providing general leadership to assigned personnel.

  • Offering problem-solving and technical advice for assigned projects to ensure successful completion.

  • Liaising with the Coordinator/Chief Operating Officer and the engineering group to report on project progress and viability.

  • Assisting the maintenance department in designing and planning engineering solutions for plant and associated equipment, including reviewing the effectiveness of solutions.

  • Ensuring all projects and works comply with Company standards, legislative requirements, WHS, EEO, and Food Safety guidelines.

  • Supporting Dry Pasta, the Mill, Maintenance, and Engineering in determining and executing preventative maintenance scheduling.

  • Assisting in the supervision and management of maintenance-related personnel as required on projects and periodically.

  • Creating and maintaining concise and accurate documents, files, and records for allocated projects.

  • Assisting with new product trials and providing technical advice where needed.

  • Providing and maintaining a safe working environment and safe systems of work in accordance with legislative requirements.

  • Performing general duties as required.

  
Qualifications / Criteria: 

  • Proven “hands-on” management style with the ability to think and act strategically.

  • Experience in an FMCG environment.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Logistics).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Project management experience.

  • Experience in organizational development and change management.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Broad knowledge of continuous improvement principles and ISO/HACCP systems.

  • Intermediate or higher proficiency in software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • General understanding of production planning and manufacturing practices.

Annual salary of $90K - $95K + super
