Neurosurgeons

Neurosurgeons perform surgery to treat nervous system disorders. They work in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries.  Most of the nurses are employed in the Health Care and Social Assistance industries. 

Minimum requirements for neurosurgeons include a bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, and registration. 

Job Description

• review patient’s medical history, physical conditions and reaction to medication and order diagnostic test such as magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans, and PET scans to diagnose patients and interpret results 

• perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to remove tumours and relieve chronic pain

• perform surgery to correct deformities and treatment of diseases of the spinal cord such as degenerative spine disorder and scoliosis

• prescribe post-operative care, and observes and investigates patients' progress.
