Computer Network and Systems Engineer Jobs In Australia

On a daily basis, Computer Network Engineers monitor network activity and traffic, capacity and usage to ensure the continued protection and integrity of the network system and that they are configured at optimal performance. They take the lead in troubleshooting network problems and related emergencies, and whenever appropriate, they also recommend upgrades of networks, software database applications, servers, and workstations. In larger organizations, Computer Network Engineers usually work as part of a team, but in smaller companies, they usually work as a one-man section.
 

A Bachelor's Degree in a related field or higher is usually required to be considered in this job.  In lieu of university qualification, sometimes, minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, and vendor certification may suffice.  On the average, a Computer Network Engineer in Australia is earning $70,000 base per annum.  Starting pay is approximately $50,000 up to $100,000 base per annum, depending on years of experience and skills.  Computer Network Engineer's career path usually include IT Architect, IT Manager, or Project Manager roles.  
 

There are about 20,000 workers currently employed on a full-time basis in this occupation nationwide, and around 10,000 new job openings are projected to become available in the next 5 years as workers are leaving and new jobs are being created.  

  Essentials: 

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or related field

• Minimum of 2 years experience within the last 5 years

• Exceptional skills in LAN, WAN, and MPLS environments

• Experience in design and implementation of firewall solutions

• Excellent English communication skills

• Strong problem-solving abilities and good presentation skills

Desirable:

• Relevant vendor certification

• Experience in complex private IP data

• CISCO/Juniper routing and switching

• Master's Degree in related field
