Mechanical Engineering Technician (Agricultural Industry)
Location: Moree, NSW
Salary: $80,000 + Super
Are you passionate about agricultural technology and enjoy hands-on technical work? We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join a growing team in Moree, NSW. This role combines technical installation, validation, and servicing responsibilities, with a key focus on water meter and telemetry systems, as well as the promotion and support of remote automation technology.
About the Role:
This position is critical in ensuring our clients meet compliance standards in water metering through installing, validating, and maintaining essential water measurement and telemetry systems. In addition, you'll play a vital role in driving the market growth of an advanced remote automation application, which allows customers to monitor and control systems conveniently via their smartphones.
Once established in the role, you'll also have the opportunity to train and support a junior technician. This role requires travel to client sites and may include periodic overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:
- Water Meter and Telemetry Systems: Install, validate, and service water meters and telemetry, including auto-electric troubleshooting, wiring, and documentation of compliance.
- Remote Automation: Drive sales and service for the remote automation app, including system setup, field testing, and customer education.
- Compliance and Customer Support: Assist clients in achieving water meter compliance and maintain detailed records of site installations and services.
- Training: Undertake compulsory in-house and external training in relevant technology within the first six months, including DQP certification and technical courses.
- Safety and Reporting: Follow WHS policies and contribute to safety protocols; attend meetings and report on service delivery and business improvements.
- Education/Experience: Degree or trade qualifications in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics OR completion of Year 12 with 2+ years' experience in electrical or agricultural tech.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of machinery and auto electric systems with experience in installation, problem-solving, and maintenance.
- Computer Proficiency: Competence with MS Office Suite and digital tools.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, customer-oriented approach, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
- Driver's License: Current Australian driver's license.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to handle manual tasks such as lifting, driving to remote properties, and working in varying conditions.
