Lift Mechanic

Lift Mechanic install, repair and maintain elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and other lifts.  Minimum requirements for this occupation include diploma, relevant experience and registratiion.

Duties

• review blueprints and diagrams to determine the equipment needed for installation or repair 

• install and fix elevator doors, cables, motors, and control systems

• check malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, and control systems

• join electrical wiring to control panels and electric motors

• adjust counterweights, door mechanisms, and safety controls

• adhere with building codes and safety regulations
