Fibrous Plasterer

Fibrous plasterers build and repair plasterboard partitions, acoustic tiles, suspended ceilings, fire rating systems and composite wall linings to buildings. Create ornamental plasterwork like ceiling roses, cornices, and architraves from a mixture of plaster and short fibres.
Minimum requirements for fibrous plasterer include diploma, relevant experience and registration.
Duties
plan plasterboard layout and install insulation and vapour barriers.
measure, mark and cut plasterboard, position and secure panels to walls, ceilings and battens
create corner beads and secure them in position
cover joins and nail holes with wet plaster and sealing compounds, and smooth them using wet brush and sandpaper
plumb and straighten angles, corners, ceiling and wall surfaces
apply and finish acoustic, fireproofing and insulating materials bonded with plaster, plastic cement and similar materials
