About the role

The Sushi in Freo is looking for an experienced and talented Cook to join our team in Fremantle, Western Australia. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of authentic Japanese sushi and other culinary dishes to the highest standards.

What you’ll be doing
  • Preparing and cooking fresh sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese cuisine to exacting standards
  • Ensuring all dishes are presented beautifully and in line with traditional Japanese culinary techniques.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Collaborating with the front -of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our customers.
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve kitchen processes and menu offerings
  • Mentoring and training junior kitchen staff as required
  
What we’re looking for
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Cook in a high-quality Japanese or Asian fusion restaurant
  • Formal culinary training or qualifications in Japanese cuisine
  • Excellent knife skills and a strong understanding of traditional Japanese flavours and presentation
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high food safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
