Visitor / Tourist Visas

Visitor visas may let you visit Australia: to visit or for business visitor purposes for up to three, six or 12 months with single- or multi-entry facility. A. Temporary Work (Short Stay) Specialist Visa (Subclass 400)

This temporary visa is for those who are intending to travel to Australia to do short-term, highly specialised, non-ongoing work or participate in an activity or work relating to Australia’s interest. The length of stay is for three months up to a maximum of six months with conditions.

B. Visitor visa (subclass 600)

This visa is for people travelling to Australia:

As a tourist
For business visitor activities
To see family
On tour with a registered travel agent from the People’s Republic of China

The visa allows you to visit Australia for a period as determined by the Minister.

C. Electronic Travel Authority visa (subclass 601)

This visa is for people travelling to Australia:

As a tourist
For business visitor activities
In most cases, this visa allows you to visit Australia on multiple occasions within 12 months from the date of the grant of the visa or the life of the visa holder’s passport (whichever is shorter) for three months at a time.
You must be outside Australia when the Electronic Travel Authority visa is granted or, if you apply for it while you are in immigration clearance, then you must be in immigration clearance at the time it is granted.

D. eVisitor (subclass 651)

This is a free visa for certain people travelling to Australia:
As a tourist
For business visitor activities
This visa allows you to visit Australia for three months at a time and travel to and enter Australia on multiple occasions within 12 months from the date the visa is granted.

eVisitor-eligible passports

eVisitor-eligible passports are citizen passports issued by the following countries:

You are not eligible to apply for the eVisitor if your only passport is a British National Overseas, British Dependent Territories Citizen, British Overseas Citizen, British Protected Person or British Subject passport.

E. eVisitor (subclass 651)

This visitor visa allows you to visit Australia for business purposes. It is a free visa, valid for three months at a time within a 1-year period. To qualify for this visa, you need to be outside Australia and a passport holder of a certain country.

F. Transit Visa (subclass 771)

This visa allows you and your dependent children to travel through Australia within 72 hours. To be eligible, you must be subclass 988 visa holder (with relevant crew documents) and hold a booking and pertinent documentation to enter another country
