Precision Metal Trades Workers are employed in most parts of Australia and strong growth is predicted in the future. They primarily work in Public Administration and Safety; Manufacturing and Other Services industries. Common duties include:
construct parts of precision instruments like clocks, timepieces and firearms
repair articles using hand and power tools and specially designed machines
install security systems, change tumblers in locks, change locks, cut keys and opening locks
fine-tune precision instruments using standard weights and measures, jigs and fixtures, and hand tools
test circuits in electronic timepieces
