Significant Investor Visa - designated investments

On 24th November, 2012 the Significant Investor Stream was incorporated into the Business & Innovation Visas. In conjunction, DIAC advised, the Securities in which an Investment is a Designated Investment for the purposes of subclasses 162, 165, 188, 405, 888, 891 and 893 - November 2012 specifies the following State and Territory Government securities that are to be accepted as designated investments:

 

  • NSW Waratah Bonds
  • NSW Treasury Bonds
  • Government Bonds of Victoria
  • Queensland Bonds
  • Queensland Industry Bonds
  • TASCORP Inscribed Stock
  • Territory Bonds (NT)
  • Western Australian State Bonds
  • South Australian Government Financing Authority Bonds

In addition, the list of Eligibible Managed Funds announced are:

  • infrastructure projects in Australia;
  • cash held by Australian deposit taking institutions;
  • bonds issued by the Commonwealth Government or a State or Territory government;
  • bonds, equity, hybrids or other corporate debt in companies and trusts listed on any Australian Stock Exchange;
  • bonds or term deposits issued by Australian financial institutions;
  • real estate in Australia;
  • Australian Agribusiness; and
  • other ASIC regulated managed funds that invest in the above list of investments.
