Carer/Relative Visa Capping

In Legislative Instrument issued today, the Minister for Immigration & Citizenship, Minister Bowen, has fixed (capped) the maximum number of visas which may be granted for the following Visas:
Carer, Remaining Relative & Aged Dependent Relative Visa.

In Legislative Instrument IMMI 10/067 [F2011L00144] issued today, the Minister has fixed (capped) the maximum number of visas which may be granted for the financial year 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011 for:

  • Offshore (Other Family (Migrant) (Class BO)) visas; and
    - Subclass 115 - Remaining Relative
    - Subclass 116 - Carer
    - Subclass 114 - Aged Dependent Relative
  • Onshore (Other Family (Residence)(Class BU) visas
    - Subclass 835 - Remaining Relative
    - Subclass 836 - Carer
    - Subclass 838 - Aged Dependent Relative

The total number of visas which may be granted for these classes is 750.

This determination by the Minister was made under Section 84 of the Migration Act 1958.
