Visa Label Free Strategy

DIAC have announced a visa label free strategy to increase integrity and reduce the burden on DIAC resources.

In 2008-09 13% of 5.3 million visas issued, were evidenced with visa labels. Visa holders, Australian employers, and government agencies can check visa details and entitlements of non-citizens using the department's online Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) service. DIAC's intention is to promote the VEVO service and seeks support from the migration agent industry "In the coming weeks, the department will be working with representatives from the Registered Migration Agents industry to progress a number of issues raised in regards to the cessation of visa evidencing services to Registered Migration Agents, label-free and VEVO. We seek your support in promoting label-free to your clients who are happy to do so, and promoting their use of VEVO as a way of supporting your work".
