Visas:

  • Skilled Visas: Many Malaysian nationals come to Australia to avail of the world class education system available in Australia. School Fees are also comparatively cheaper their US & Canadian counterparts. This may also be a strong pathway to permanent residence. Students who study in Australia in approved degree (or higher) courses for '2 years' may qualify for the Skilled Independent - Onshore visa (Subclass 886) or the Skilled Graduate - Provisional (Subclass 485).
  • Sponsored Family Visas: with so many Malaysian expats now citizens or permanent residents in Australia, maybe you can combine your skills and be sponsored by your relative?
  • Work & Holiday Visa: The Malaysian & Australian governments have recently signed a reciprocal visa agreement. The Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa is for young people aged 18 to 30 (from certain countries) who want to travel and work for up to 12 months in Australia. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment. The Work and Holiday visa program is designed to encourage cultural exchange and closer ties between arrangement countries.
  • Student Visas: Malaysian nationals are considered relatively low risk of overstay/breaching visa conditions, therefore is granted Assessment Level 1 (i.e. lower evidence required).
  • Tourists: Malaysian nationals are eligible to apply for an e-tourist visa (Subclass 676). This is an online tourist visa valid for 3 months.
